Acerca de Caminhar Sozinha

Houve duas citações que há tempos, talvez um ano, foram como uma ilustração caída do céu para os meus sentimentos inexpressáveis. Eu debati-me com elas porque as suas origens eram retorcidas, e por serem obscuras pareciam-me inqualificáveis para apresentar no formato de citação. Quando tento finalmente expô-las, o problema desapareceu e eu já nem consigo compreender exactamente o que era.

"Sabrina" é um remake do filme de 1954, que por ter a Audrey Hepburn seria um clássico muito mais citável. Eu vi o recente no canal Hollywood e fui ver o antigo para retirar do original isto:

You think? I came here from Province alone, uneducated. For 6 months, no, more than that, a year, I sat in a cafe, drank coffee and wrote nonsense in a journal. Then suddenly it was not nonsense. I went for long walks and I met myself in Paris. You seem embarassed by loneliness - but you see, it's only a place to start.

"Sabrina" (1995)

Mas isto não está no original, e como isto há outras coisas mágicas que apareceram por extensão: o pai da Sabrina que é motorista para ter tempo para ler, e o poema:

Sabrina fair,
listen where thou art sitting under the glassy, cool, translucent wave,
in twisted braids of lilies knitting the loose train of thy amber-dropping hair 

Linus Larrabee: [pause] So, your little poem - what does it mean?
Sabrina: It's the story of a water sprite who saved a virgin from a fate worse than death.
